The Applications Process
The Foundation evaluates grant requests on a rolling basis throughout its fiscal year (6/1 – 5/31). Currently there are no deadlines for grants based on type as is done at other foundations. Grant writers should be aware that proposals received after April 1st, will most likely be considered for funding in the following fiscal year.
For grants of $10,000 or more and all capital requests, the Foundation encourages applicants to use the Common Grant Application that was developed through the Non-Profit Support Center.
For grants under $10,000, in lieu of the Common Grant Application, organizations may also put their request in the form of a 1-2 page letter which clearly and simply communicates the compelling nature of the request. This allowance is made primarily for smaller organizations with little experience in completing the common grant application.
The Foundation may conduct a site visit for additional information in regard to a grant request, but this is not a requirement and not the norm in our evaluation process. In addition, because of the nature of our evaluation process, we unfortunately do not have time to meet personally with applicants unless there is a need to clarify specific questions that have arisen in the process of evaluating a grant request.
